A blockage in your home or place of work can cause a real disruption to your day. If in front of you at the present is a flooding issue, a burst pipe problem that is stopping you in the tracks of your busy life, don’t panic. If you notice any of tell-tale signs- don’t ignore it. Ignoring a blockage will only make it worse and you could end up with a back up in your home or even flooding.
Four main causes
There are four main reasons your drains back up and get blocked. These are first of all the fat and grease you pour down the sink while cooking. If you don’t know what else you could do with the boiling hot bacon fat you have on your frying pan, I have a simple advice for you – just let it cool down, it will change it’s liquidish form to become more solid, then you can easily scrape it out and bin it.
The second reason for your pipes to block and drains to back up is hair. Yes, you heard me right. All the hair left in the bath drain creates a clog. There’s an other useful advice to give – after every shower and bath take all the hair and don’t let it go down the drain.
As the third reason I will mention foreign object. You should keep an eye of what you drop in your toilet and sinks. Even if it is an organic object like the cardboard tube left when you use all the toilet paper. Not all organic materials will dispose fast enough for the drains and eventually will cause your drain a blockage.
We all like when the front of the house and the garden is tidy and clean. I can assure you, your drains like it as well. The fourth reason for the drains to have a blockage is the tree leaves and debris. Keep your garden clean and let the drains stay clean.
